Veterans of the war in Ukraine will train German soldiers in drone operations and defense against enemy attacks.
The deal was reached by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the magazine reported The mirror.
Discussions between the Bundeswehr and Ukrainian authorities have been taking place since 2025 and are aimed at leveraging the experience gained in combat against Russian forces. The initiative aims to strengthen the operational capabilities of German troops, particularly in modern warfare scenarios.
Among the main areas of cooperation are the tactical use of drones, protection against enemy offensives and the application of simple digital systems for planning and command of operations. German officers emphasized that Ukraine today concentrates the greatest practical combat experience within NATO.

Unlike German systems, developed in peacetime and considered complex, Ukrainian solutions have been tested directly on the front line and are subject to constant improvement. Ukrainian veterans are expected to arrive in Germany soon to contribute mainly to the training of infantry units.
