US has “several arguments” to justify an attack on Iran, says White House spokesperson

by Marcelo Moreira

White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said this Wednesday (18) that the United States has “several arguments” to justify an attack on Iran. At the same time, President Donald Trump stated, on a social network, that he could use British military bases if Tehran does not reach an agreement.

The statement comes as a surprise as the foreign ministers of the United States and Iran say they are making “good progress” in negotiations in Geneva. The Iranian minister stated that both sides agreed on a “set of guiding principles”. He was optimistic, but did not give many details of what was discussed or when the next round of discussions could be held.

On the North American side, Vice President JD Vance also stated that progress had been made and that the Iranians had agreed to meet again. He cited some “red lines” that the Iranians would be unwilling to recognize and negotiate. The main one would be the acquisition of nuclear weapons, a factor that, according to Vance, would be a risk for the world.
