President Lula sanctioned the salary adjustment for employees of the Chamber, the Senate and the Federal Court of Auditors (TCU), but vetoed sections that could exceed the constitutional ceiling.
The measure, which was published in the Official Gazette of the Union this Wednesday (18), guarantees an increase for 2026 and replaces the current bonuses with a new Performance and Strategic Alignment Bonus, of a remunerative nature and subject to the ceiling, currently at around R$46,300. Careers also began to be recognized as typical of the State. At TCU, there will be an increase in positions and higher education requirements for all positions.
Lula, however, barred staggered increases until 2029, retroactive payments and compensatory leave in cash. According to Planalto, the vetoes prevent the creation of mandatory expenses at the end of the mandate, in disagreement with the Fiscal Responsibility Law.
