Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has introduced a new version of the Multivan Camper in the UK, which has been specially developed as a base vehicle for professional converters.
Launched on February 16, 2026, the model arrives as a “blank canvas” ready to take on custom RV conversion projects.

Based on the long-wheelbase (LWB) version of the Multivan, the new Camper is available with two powertrains and can be ordered now.
Engine variants and prices
The basic model can be ordered with the following configurations:
- 2.0 TDI 150 PS DSG – from £43,900 (excl. VAT) / from £52,680 (incl. VAT)
- 2.0 eHybrid 240 PS DSG 4Motion – From £50,725 (excl. VAT) / £60,870 (incl. VAT)
The plug-in hybrid version with 4Motion all-wheel drive offers a wider range of uses, especially for those looking for greater versatility for long journeys or varied off-road conditions.
Design designed for conversion
During the design of the Multivan Camper, the aim was to reduce waste and facilitate the work of converters. The vehicle comes with the following equipment from the factory:
- Manually operated pop-up roof
- Interior roof lining already installed
- Completely empty rear cargo area
- Without floor covering
- Without rear seats
- Two swivel front seats
- Double-sided sliding doors
- Rear tailgate
This configuration eliminates the need to remove unnecessary elements, reducing costs and conversion time.
Interior space and capacity
Keeping the dimensions of the Multivan LWB, the Camper offers a capacity of 4,053 liters behind the two front seats. The internal dimensions are:
- Length: 2,625 mm
- Width: 1,665 mm
- Height: 1,312 mm
The volume and internal geometry make it possible to create different layouts — from compact weekend solutions to more complex projects designed for longer trips.
Factory customization
Even before the conversion, it is possible to select optional equipment to bring the vehicle closer to the desired final design. Available options include:
- Three-zone Climatronic air conditioning
- Heated front seats
- Navigation system
- Alloy wheels
This approach allows converters to start the project with a base vehicle that better fits the profile of the end user.
Homologation
The Multivan Camper is marketed with incomplete M1 homologation, which requires conversion and the second stage of type approval for final marketing. The product is thus designed exclusively for the professional converter market.
With this strategy, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles further strengthens its presence in the campervan segment, offering an official and standardized platform for specialized companies to develop unique solutions — be it for leisure, tourism or adventure mobility purposes.
