The 1st Court of Childhood and Protective Youth of Rio de Janeiro (RJ) denied the request for authorization for children and adolescents to participate in the Acadêmicos de Niterói parade, in Marquês de Sapucaí. The association will honor President Lula next Sunday (15).
The school had requested a permit to allow minors to participate in the parade. Although the Public Prosecutor’s Office was in favor of the school’s request, with safety and documentation recommendations, the action was filed outside the deadline established by the Court itself.
The body determines that the request must be made at least 20 days in advance of the first parade in Sapucaí, scheduled for this Friday (13). The deadline for filing requests for authorization for minors to participate was January 24th. However, Acadêmicos de Niterói only presented the request on February 4th.
In the decision, judge Lýsia Maria da Rocha Mesquita highlighted that the deadline is of a material nature and, therefore, cannot be extended. The rule provides that failure to meet the deadline implies automatic rejection of the request.
It was also determined that, if children or teenagers participate in the school parade in Sapucaí without judicial authorization, an infraction notice will be issued.
