A Nissan owner has shared a trick he discovered to permanently disable his vehicle’s “start-stop” function.
Ryan he published a video on his TikTok profile in which he says he hates the system that automatically turns off the engine after braking, a function present in many modern cars.
Although many car manufacturers have adopted this tool which apparently helps reduce fuel consumption, most drivers hate this feature.
Ryan also explained that, with the function active, his car remained off for more than 8 and a half hours, saving only 11 liters of petrol. Many internet users advocate leaving the feature turned on start-stop may cause faster wear of the vehicle’s starting systems.
Fortunately, cars equipped with programming start-stop they also have a button somewhere in the cockpit that allows you to deactivate the function. However, this does not remain permanently deactivated, so the driver must manually press the button every time he starts the car.
That’s what made Ryan lose his temper. Looking for a way to permanently disable the feature, he discovered that he could do so with a simple piece of paper, which he placed between the button and the panel.
“Yes. I haven’t touched that button in weeks. And I’m the happiest man on the planet,” Ryan celebrated in a video posted to his TikTok profile, which has already accumulated over 40,000 views and numerous comments from users who have shared their opinion on Ryan’s solution.
“High-tech problems require low-tech solutions,” one TikTok user joked. “Personally, I would remove the switch and wire it so it can be pulled up/down without needing the [bastoncino]but that’s how it works anyway,” another user analyzed.
“It’s a big deal because it should be optional, not turned on by default and you have to manually turn it off every time you turn on the vehicle,” complained a third user. “Just let the battery get too low for the start-stop don’t activate it,” another joked.
