General Hospital’s Steve Burton Reveals Why He’s Taking Another Break From Show

Steve Burton is bidding a short farewell to Port Charles.

The General Hospital star shared that he will be taking a break from his role as Jason Morgan on the long running ABC soap opera, nine months after marrying wife Michelle Lundstrom.

“Hey everyone, I wanted to share that I’ll be taking a short break from General Hospital,” Steve wrote on Instagram Feb. 10. “I’m newly married and looking forward to spending some quality time with my family.”

“I’m grateful for all the support and will be back this summer,” the 55-year-old added. “Much luv -sb.”

While he did not reveal his exact return datemany fans were supportive of his decision, with one writing in the comments, “Enjoy your break with your lovely family. And hopefully the writers will give you a storyline you deserve when you return.”

Steve originally joined the cast of General Hospital in 1991, although he left the series in 2012. After starring on The Young and the Restless and Days of Our Liveshe returned to General Hospital in 2017, but was let go in 2021 after refusing to comply with the COVID-19 vaccine mandate. He rejoined the cast once more in 2024.
