This Tuesday (10), senators and deputies who are part of the Brazilian Representation in the Mercosur Parliament (Parlasul) met to evaluate the content of the treaty. However, the session ended up being interrupted after a request for review, which postponed the deliberation.
The rapporteur of the matter at the collegiate, federal deputy Arlindo Chinaglia (PT-SP), presented a favorable opinion to the agreement. As it is a treaty signed within the scope of Mercosur, the text cannot be changed by the Brazilian Congress. Some of the parliamentarians argued that the approval should take place this Tuesday, which would allow the proposal to advance in the Chamber of Deputies. The president of the House, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), had signaled his intention to take the topic to the plenary right after Carnival.
The suspension of the session occurred after deputy Renildo Calheiros (PCdoB-PE) requested more time to analyze the agreement in depth and hear contributions from interested entities and associations. To preserve the quorum, the work was interrupted and should be resumed on the 24th, with the vote on the report.
