The Government of Rio de Janeiro requested the Federal Supreme Court (STF) for another 20 working days to send the images captured during the mega-operation in the Penha and Alemão complexes, in the North Zone.
The action, carried out in October last year, ended with 122 deaths, including five police officers. According to the state government, an increase in the deadline is necessary to gather all the collected material.
Alexandre de Moraes, minister of the STF, determined last week that this material should be sent within 15 days. The request was made for the images to be examined by the Federal Police.
Considered the most lethal operation in Rio de Janeiro in recent years, the operation aimed, according to the state’s Public Security, to contain the advances of Comando Vermelho.
