“I know what it means to succeed without letting go of where you come from,” Ricky wrote in the Puerto Rican newspaper The New Dayper Billboard. “That’s why what you have achieved is not just a historic musical accomplishment, it’s a cultural and human victory.”
“You won without changing the color of your voice,” he continued. “You won without erasing your roots. You won by staying true to Puerto Rico.”
For Bad Bunny, who is also on tour, it’s been an overwhelming but unforgettable chapter in his life.
“To be honest, I don’t know how I’m feeling,” the rapper admitted during the Apple Music press conference ahead of the show Feb. 5. “There’s a lot. I’ve been saying that I’m still in the middle of my tour. I was at the Grammys last week.”
“The biggest feeling has been grateful,” he continued. “I’m happy. I’m just processing and taking one day at a time and just living. I’m excited about this performance.”
