Trump says he won’t apologize for Obama couple’s racist video

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, said he will not apologize for sharing a video on his social network that portrayed former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama as monkeys.

Aboard Air Force One, Trump told reporters, according to the Reuters news agency, that he had not watched the full video before a White House aide published it on his account. “I saw the first part, which was really about voter fraud in the machines, how dishonest and disgusting it is. Then I showed it to people. Usually, they see everything. But I don’t think someone saw it.”

When asked if he condemned the video, Trump said yes, but refused to apologize.

“I didn’t make a mistake. I mean, I analyze thousands of things. Nobody knew it was at the end. If they had looked, they would have seen it and probably would have had the common sense to take it down,” said the President of the United States.

The video was published on Thursday (5), on the social network Truth Social. Lasting about a minute, the publication spreads a conspiracy theory about alleged fraud in the North American elections and, at the end of the video, displays the faces of the Obama couple on the bodies of Monkeys.

The post generated strong criticism from users on social media and outrage from public figures. The White House spoke out and said it “was wrong” to publish the video. According to the government, the publication was not made by Trump, but by a government official who had made a mistake.
