According to Jonsson, the packages will not only include the systems themselves, but also detection and command means, spare parts and ammunition, ensuring full operational readiness from the arrival to the operational area.
The systems will be delivered to Ukraine within 12 months and include advanced sensors, command systems, spare parts and ammunition. Financing is secured through Sweden’s military support packages 18, 19 and 20, alongside Denmark’s additional contribution. (3/3)

Funding and schedule
The acquisition is carried out as part of the 18th, 19th and 20th support program from the Swedish armed forces. Overall, Sweden has set aside 2.1 billion Swedish kroner (approx. 190 million dollars) to finance the purchase of the TRIDON Mk2 systems.
In parallel, Denmark has decided to expand its order with the acquisition of additional TRIDON guns and retrofit kits, with an investment of 480 million Swedish kroner (approx. 43 million dollars). The amount corresponds to the cost of the weapons required to equip an anti-aircraft battalion.
The systems are already in the production phase with a design adapted to Ukrainian operational needs. The first units are expected to arrive in Ukraine a few months after the official order.
TRIDON Mk2: technical characteristics

Developed by BAE Systems, the TRIDON Mk2 is a short-range, gun-based air defense system equipped with the 40mm Bofors 40 Mk.4, with a 100-round feed system.
The unit is mounted on a civilian Scania truck in 6×6 configuration, which ensures high mobility, quick deployment and easy accessibility on public roads.
The TRIDON Mk2 is capable of engaging aerial targets at ranges up to 13 km. The use of programmable Bofors 3P ammunition makes it possible to combat drones, cruise missiles and helicopters with high precision by creating a cloud of fragments directly in front of the target to maximize the probability of destruction.
With this joint initiative, Sweden and Denmark are expanding European support for Ukraine’s air defense and strengthening the ability to protect against air threats at low and medium altitudes.
