Military MP must demand expulsion of Bolsonaro and four general officers of the Armed Forces

The Military Public Ministry is expected to file a request to the Superior Military Court (STM) this week for former president Jair Bolsonaro to be expelled from the Armed Forces.

The measure should also be applied to the former Navy commander, Almir Garnier, and generals Augusto Heleno, Paulo Sérgio Nogueira and Walter Braga Netto, who are also military personnel and were convicted of the attempted coup d’état.

In a decision by the Federal Supreme Court, two members of the so-called “black kids” — Special Operations soldiers of the Brazilian Army —, also convicted of the coup plot, had their prison sentences replaced by a fine, a course on democracy and the provision of community services.
