The United States has Raytheon awarded a contract worth $197 million to seven MS-110-To deliver reconnaissance capsules to the Polish Air Force.
According to a report by the Defence Blog The announcement was made by the company itself on January 28th. The work will be carried out in Westford, Massachusetts (USA) and is expected to be completed by August 2031.
The contract, issued by the US Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, covers the production of seven MS-110-Reconnaissance capsules as well as the integration of aircraft and engineering support.
The MS-110 is an advanced airborne reconnaissance, surveillance and reconnaissance capsule designed to provide comprehensive collection of long-range imagery in day and night conditions. The system uses multispectral sensors combined with onboard processing to enable rapid image analysis during flight operations.
Sea Raytheon integrates that MS-110 artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to quickly process and interpret images, reducing the time between collection and evaluation.
“The MS-110 “System brings advanced capabilities by bringing next-generation processing to the tactical edge to overcome stealth and distractions in near real-time,” said Dan TheisenPresident of Advanced Products and Solutions.
“This capability enables the United States and our allies to maintain a strategic advantage in an evolving global defense environment and strengthens large-scale survivability, response and surveillance.”
The pods are compatible with a wide range of aircraft, including advanced fighter jets, maritime patrol aircraft, dedicated mission platforms and medium-altitude, long-range unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
This flexibility allows the Air Force to use the system in different missions without changing the aircraft’s main systems.
And as part of reconnaissance and intelligence efforts on NATO’s eastern flank, Poland will be able to use the capsules for independent large-scale surveillance missions while providing data directly to allies’ networks.
