The Israeli government stated this Monday (2) that any attack by Iran against the country will be responded to severely. The warning was made by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a speech to the Knesset, the Israeli Parliament in Jerusalem, declaring that Iran “will suffer unbearable consequences” if it attacks Israel.

“More challenges await us, more difficult moments. But we are alert and prepared for any event, we closely monitor what is happening and are prepared for any scenario”, said the premier. “As a powerful democracy, we faced the ‘axis of evil’ and we were able to do so. Our soldiers and commanders courageously defended our home and our freedom in the face of Iran and its terrorist arms,” he said. He reinforced that “whoever attacks us will suffer unbearable consequences”.

The statements took place during the session that marked the 77th anniversary of the founding of the Israeli Parliament.

Netanyahu made the comments on the eve of a meeting in Jerusalem with the United States special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, as confirmed by an official Israeli source to the Spanish agency. The source did not detail the topics of the meeting.

Witkoff’s visit takes place in the context of the implementation of the second phase of the peace plan for Gaza promoted by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and amid the increase in regional tensions due to the possibility of American military action against Iran.
