The president of the INSS CPMI, senator Carlos Viana (Podemos-MG), scheduled a meeting with minister Dias Toffoli, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), with the aim of requesting the maintenance of Daniel Vorcaro’s testimony, scheduled to take place next Thursday (5) within the scope of the joint parliamentary commission of inquiry. The meeting is scheduled for this Tuesday (3), at the STF headquarters.
Toffoli is the rapporteur of the so-called Master case at the Court and may be provoked by the banker’s defense through an appeal to try to prevent the hearing at CPMI. Until this Monday, however, no request had been filed. Last week, Vorcaro’s lawyers told CNN that they were still reviewing the summons.
The CPMI defends that Daniel Vorcaro is obliged to appear before the collegiate and requested authorization to transport the deponent to Brasília, in addition to the transfer of his custody to the Federal Senate Police during the entire period in which he remains in the premises of the National Congress.
In a letter sent to Minister Dias Toffoli, the commission argues that Vorcaro’s testimony, as a witness, is considered relevant to the work of the collegiate. According to the document, as he holds the presidency of the financial institution under investigation, he will be able to provide clarifications on the contracting of loans, the amounts involved, the verification procedures for the contractors and other points related to the case.
