The court maintained the preventive detention of motor racing driver Pedro Turra, aged 19, after a custody hearing. He was arrested last Friday (29) by the Civil Police, accused of attacking a 16-year-old teenager during a fight that occurred last week in the Federal District.
Turra was released after paying bail of R$24,000 and responding freely to the investigation for bodily injury, but the new request for arrest was authorized after the presentation of evidence that he was involved in other cases of aggression. The defense claimed that the pilot had been receiving threats, and he will remain in a private cell until he is transferred to the Papuda Penitentiary.
According to the Public Ministry, there is evidence that Turra tried to combine testimonies from friends to favor his version, using social media to support a possible thesis of self-defense. The disagreement began over a piece of gum thrown at a friend of the victim.
After the episode, Pedro Turra was dismissed from Formula Delta, the motorsport competition in which he worked as a driver. The attacked teenager remains hospitalized in serious condition in a private hospital.
