Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned on Wednesday in Washington that neither US President Donald Trump, nor are he willing to accept a peace agreement in Gaza “at any price.”
The Israeli Premier met in the American capital with senators of the Democratic and Republican parties and said to the press, before the meeting, that he is coordinated with Trump to make “Gaza no longer a threat” and get the return of hostages.
“To achieve this common goal, we have a joint strategy. Not only do we have a common strategy, but also common tactics. This does not imply pressure or coercion, but full coordination. President Trump wants an agreement, but not at any price. I want an agreement, but not at any price,” he said.
Netanyahu emphasized that his country has “safety requirements” and stressed that neither seeks the forced departure of the Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.
“If people want to get out of Gaza, they should have the right to do so and not be kept under a gun by Hamas. […] This is called freedom of choice. Nothing more than that, without coercion or forced output, “he said.
After his second meeting with Trump on Tuesday, at closed doors, Israeli Prime Minister had pointed out that his country is determined to achieve all his goals.
The visit is scheduled to end on Thursday, although the press of Israel does not discard that he prolong her.
Netanyahu’s agenda last Wednesday included a Pentagon meeting with US Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, in which the prime minister thanked the US for the so-called midnight operation, which bombed three Iranian nuclear facilities in late June.
Netanyahu arrived in the United States on Monday to discuss with the US president a possible 60-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, which would serve to negotiate the definitive end of the conflict.
Trump considered on Wednesday that an agreement for this truce can be closed “this week or next time.” The White House had hitherto shown confidence that the pact could be reached by the end of this week.
