In Los Angeles, in the United States, teams from the Fire Department rescued 31 construction workers who were arrested after the collapse of a tunnel under construction. The workers were rescued one hour after the collapse, which happened around 20h00 this Wednesday (09), for local time. No one was injured.
According to firefighters, workers climbed a pile of land of approximately 3.6 to 4.5 meters to escape. The collapse occurred about 10km from the only tunnel access point, which is 11km long, about 5.5 meters wide and is 137 meters below ground level.
In an X (former Twitter), Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass said about 100 rescuers were mobilized, including urban search and rescue teams. She also thanked each person who assisted in the ransom and said they “are the true heroes of Los Angeles.”
