Iran announced this Thursday (29) that it will carry out a military exercise in the Strait of Hormuz, a region through which around 20% of the world’s oil passes. The exercise will involve live fire and is planned for Sunday (1st) and Monday (2nd).
A radio alert was transmitted to the ships. The action takes place amid threats from the American government to militarily attack Iran. This Wednesday (28), Donald Trump, through social media, warned the Iranian government that “time is running out”. The speech came shortly after Iran’s foreign minister stated that Tehran will not negotiate with the United States
According to a report by The New York Times, Trump made three demands so that an attack does not happen against the country: the permanent suspension of all uranium enrichment; limits on the range and number of ballistic missiles and an end to support for allied militias such as Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis. None of the demands involve the repression of demonstrations in the country.
