Iran is increasing its arsenal amid rising tensions and threats of conflict with the US.
This Thursday (29), different sectors of the Army received batches of more than a thousand drones, according to the semi-official Iranian agency. Tasnim.
The new military investments were announced shortly after American President Donald Trump announced that the fleet of ships he sent to Iran is prepared to “accomplish its mission with speed and violence”, in the same way that occurred in Venezuela.
Trump added in the new warning that Iran’s time is “running out” and hopes that the country will sit down “soon” at the negotiating table to reach an agreement that is “fair and equitable” for all parties and in which there are no “nuclear weapons.”
Tehran Army Commander-in-Chief Amir Hatami argued to Tasnim that “in line with the imminent threats [dos EUA]the army maintains and enhances its strategic advantages for rapid combat and a forceful response against any aggressor.”
Iran has a powerful drone and missile manufacturing industry. In 2024, the country presented a new drone with a range of 2,000 kilometers, a 24-hour flight capacity and the ability to carry “all types of ammunition and bombs”.
The Islamic regime’s reaction comes amid the mobilization of the American aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln and its escort group of three destroyers to the area close to Iranian waters.
Trump ordered the deployment of the fleet amid the protests that shook the country from the end of December and were violently repressed by authorities.
This Wednesday, the Iranian regime signaled that it considers a military confrontation more likely than negotiation with the USA.
