Ukraine and France are working on the transfer of additional Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets, as well as the delivery of missiles for French air defense systems.
The information was announced by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov after meeting her French counterpart, Catherine Vautrin.
According to Fedorov, Kyiv is counting on the supply of French-made ammunition for the SAMP/T and Crotale air defense systems, as well as the supply of long-range weapons, the specific types of which have not been officially specified. Among the options mentioned are SCALP missiles and ammunition for the LRU, the European version of the M270A1.
The Ukrainian minister said that France is ready to transfer more missiles in the near future, although the specific designation has not yet been made public. At the same time, Ukraine expects the delivery of additional fighter jets, which should significantly strengthen the air force’s combat capabilities.

Mirage 2000-5 fighters have become one of the key elements of the current Ukrainian air defense system. Equipped with missile armament, especially MICA missiles, these aircraft are deployed to intercept cruise missiles and Russian drones.
However, intensive operation in combat conditions also brought losses. In July 2025, one aircraft of this type crashed after a technical fault. In a critical situation, the pilot managed to eject successfully.
First notice of transfer Mirage 2000-5 was announced in June 2024. The first aircraft arrived in Ukraine in February 2025, and since then they have been delivered in batches.
During the meeting, the defense ministers also discussed measures against the so-called Russian “shadow fleet” as well as France’s fundamental position on this issue.
