The Federal Police (PF) and the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU) are carrying out, this Tuesday (27), an operation against misappropriation of public resources in the area of health and fraud in bidding procedures.
The mayor of Mossoró, Allyson Bezerra, is one of the targets of the mega-operation. Mossoró is the second largest city in Rio Grande do Norte.
In total, 35 search and seizure warrants are being executed in the state, in addition to precautionary and property measures. According to the investigation, irregularities were found in contracts for the supply of inputs to the public health network. Companies from Rio Grande do Norte would have acted in collusion with municipal administrations to rig bids and divert resources.
Audits identified failures such as non-delivery of materials, inadequate supply and overpricing. Those investigated may be held liable for the crimes of misappropriation of public resources and fraud in administrative contracts.
