Public consultation is open to review the resolution of the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) that defines the rights and duties of passengers and airlines. Suggestions from the population can be sent until March 9th via the “Brasil Participativo” platform.
According to Anac, the objective is to reassess the legal liability of companies in cases of flight delays or cancellations. During the meeting that marked the beginning of the process, the agency’s president, Tiago Fierstein, mentioned a “discrepancy” in the number of cases in the country and highlighted the importance of the measure to reduce the volume of legal actions against airlines in Brazil.
The review takes place ten years after the publication of the resolution, in 2016. In a statement, the Brazilian Association of Airlines stated that judicialization “inhibits investments” and that the review is important to “correct distortions”.
