The Kremlin – seat of the Russian government – stated this Sunday (25) that current European politicians, whom it classified as “mediocre”, will not be able to face the President of the United States, Donald Trump, nor the tectonic changes taking place in the world.
“They are not capable of resisting Trump’s pressure,” commented Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov in an interview with Russian state television.
Peskov stressed that the “dramatic changes” that have occurred recently are a consequence of the “double standard” and “hypocrisy” that, according to the spokesman, “dominated Europe for many decades.” “Unfortunately, they are the result of the mediocre generation of politicians who are now in power in Europe,” he declared.

As an example, the Kremlin representative cited the reaction of Europeans when Trump publicly revealed, during the World Economic Forum in Davos this week, details of his conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron.
“Very interesting. All the Europeans were literally in an uproar. […] But when Macron made public the conversation with [o presidente russo, Vladimir] Putin, no one reacted like that,” Peskov pointed out.
The spokesperson also admitted that the methods used by Trump do not “fully” correspond to the multipolar order defended by Russia for years, since the American leader prefers to impose the law of the strongest and expects his adversaries to “hang their heads” – something that, according to Peskov, Russia does not intend to do.
“Trump is an experienced politician who bases his approaches on the principles of the business world, a tough and unforgiving world. And he defends his interests, of course, the interests of his country first”, he considered.
Putin, who has avoided publicly criticizing the White House’s recent actions regarding Venezuela, Iran or the Greenland proposal, has not yet formally responded to Trump’s invitation to join his Peace Council, announced in Davos to oversee the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
The fray between Trump and Macron began after the North American president once again called for the annexation of Greenland to the United States, with the possibility of using force or taxing countries that oppose it. The French leader responded with public criticism, accusing his counterpart of intimidation.
