Itamaraty summons US business in charge after embassy speaks of “persecution” to Bolsonaro

Itamaraty announced on Wednesday (9), which will summon the US embassy in Brazil, Gabriel Escobar, to provide clarification on the note published by the US diplomatic representation in favor of former President Jair Bolsonaro.

The American note says that “political persecution” to Bolsonaro is “shameful and disrespects Brazilian democratic traditions.” Donald Trump also made a position through Truth Social.

We reinforced President Trump’s statement. We are closely following the situation. We do not comment on the next state department’s actions in relation to specific cases.”

Jair Bolsonaro is a defendant in the Superior Federal Court (STF) accused of being part of the nucleus that plotted an attempt to coup against the Democratic Rule of Law. He was also considered ineligible by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) for abuse of political power.
