January 20, 2026 – Skoda Auto Indiaofficially launched the improved Kushaq in the Indian market, reinforcing its strategy to bring European engineering closer to the country’s road environment.

This compact SUV introduces technology that is a first in its segment. In addition to an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission and a rear seat massage function, it features a package with expanded equipment and safety features.

The model continues the success of the Kushaq, which has sold more than 94,900 units since its launch in 2021 and is also exported to growing markets such as Vietnam, the Middle East and Africa. The update also supports the brand’s plans to make India its second strategic location outside Europe.

Developed in India, for India

Kushaq was developed by teams in India and the Czech Republic, based on the MQB-A0-IN platform, with a focus on cost performance and adaptation to local conditions. It maintains the features that customers have praised, such as front seats with power ventilation, cruise control, a rear camera with sensors, wireless charging, and a spacious interior, while adding new comfort and advanced technology.

First appearance of Modern Solid design and Monte Carlo specifications

The exterior features a Modern Solid design language featuring a new front grille and light bar with chrome ribs. The front is equipped with full LED headlights, front parking sensors, and LED fog lights. At the rear, integrated tail lamps with sequential turn signals and the illuminated Škoda logo emphasize the brand identity.

A total of eight body colors are available, with three new colors: Shimla Green, Steel Gray, and Cherry Red. Additionally, a sporty Monte Carlo version will be available for the first time from launch.

Turbo engine and new automatic transmission

While maintaining a minimum ground clearance of 188 mm, the improved Kushaq will be equipped with a newly developed 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission, mated to a 1.0 TSI engine producing 85 kW (116 hp) and 178 Nm. This engine is also available with a 6-speed manual transmission.

The 1.5 TSI engine produces 110kW (150 horsepower) and 250Nm and is equipped with active cylinder technology for cylinder deactivation. Paired with a 7-speed DSG, this version is equipped with disc brakes on all four wheels.

AI assistant powered by Google technology

One of the highlights is the new 10.1-inch infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The system includes an advanced voice assistant based on the Google Automotive AI Agent integrated with Gemini, which provides contextual voice commands for navigation, music, calls, climate controls, and more.

The assistant was developed for the Indian market and recognizes different accents of Indian English for a more natural and comprehensive experience.

Enhanced safety performance

The improved Kushaq maintains its 5-star Global NCAP rating and comes standard with over 25 active and passive safety features, including 6 airbags across all grades. Higher grades offer more than 40 safety features. Additionally, additions such as a rear wiper, defogger, and rain-sensing automatic wipers improve visibility and safety in a variety of weather conditions.
