Brazilian coach Carlo Ancelotti was sentenced on Wednesday to a year in prison for tax fraud in Spain in 2014. The Italian is accused of not paying taxes on image rights income when he was a coach of Real Madrid.
Ancelotti will still have to pay a fine of 386 thousand euros (R $ 2.4 million) to the IRS of Spain. Since the coach has no criminal record and the sentence is less than two years, the penalty does not imply compulsory arrest.
Carlo Ancelotti took command of the Brazilian team on May 12, after being hired by Ednaldo Rodrigues, deprived of the position of president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).
Currently, the coach adds two games with Brazil, being a victory and a draw. He was also in office during the national team’s classification for the 2026 World Cup.
