Tarcísio cites agenda reasons and postpones visit to Bolsonaro at Papudinha

by Marcelo Moreira

Governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) postponed on Tuesday night (20) the visit he would make to former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) next Thursday (22). Tarcísio cited “agenda reasons” for the postponement and will request a new date for the meeting.

The São Paulo governor’s visit to the former president had been authorized by minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF). The decision provided that politicians could meet between 8 am and 10 am.

As determined by the Band team, Bolsonaro would ask Tarcísio for explicit support for Flávio, chosen by the former president as a pre-candidate for president in this year’s elections. Bolsonaristas assessed that the governor is taking a long time to vehemently declare his support for Jair’s son.

A source interviewed by the report said that “Tarcísio de Freitas doesn’t seem to believe in Flávio, so it’s good for Bolsonaro to talk about the choice in person before the right splits for good.”

This will be the first face-to-face meeting between Bolsonaro and Tarcísio since the former president’s arrest. The movement occurs at a time of political reconfiguration, being the first direct dialogue after the choice of senator Flávio Bolsonaro as pre-candidate for the presidency of the Republic, a decision that impacts the structure of alliances for the next elections.

Bolsonaro, who was serving a sentence of 27 years and three months in prison for attempting a coup d’état at the Federal Police Superintendence, was transferred to Papudinha on January 15 following a decision by Moraes.
