The request, presented by senator Eduardo Girão (Novo-CE), has the support of more than half of the Senate. In addition to this request, there is a request in the National Congress for the creation of a Mixed Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI) and another for the creation of a CPI in the Chamber of Deputies.
Eduardo Girão’s request was signed by names such as Tereza Cristina (PP-MS), Carlos Portinho (PL-RJ), Mecias de Jesus (Republicanos-RR), Carlos Viana (Podemos-MG), Eduardo Braga (MDB-AM) and Omar Aziz (PSD-AM).
The senator asked that the CPI last 90 days.
Parliamentarians came together during the recess to ask that the request be read in the first joint session of the Legislature in 2026. To begin work, the requests from the collegiate bodies must be read by the respective presidents of the Houses.
