Minister Alexandre de Moraesof the Federal Supreme Court (STF), authorized the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), to visit former president Jair Bolsonaro in “Papudinha”, the prison unit where the politician is imprisoned in Brasília.
In addition to Tarcísio de Freitas, the Supreme Court minister also authorized Bolsonaro to receive visits from Diego Torres Dourado (brother-in-law) and Bruno Scheid (vice-president of PL).
This will be the first face-to-face meeting between Bolsonaro and Tarcísio since the former president’s arrest. The movement occurs at a time of political reconfiguration, being the first direct dialogue after the choice of senator Flávio Bolsonaro as pre-candidate for the presidency of the Republic, decision that impacts the structure of alliances for future elections.
The former president, who was serving a sentence of 27 years and three months at the Federal Police Superintendency, it was transferred to Papudinha following a decision by minister Alexandre de Moraes on January 15th.
There, Anderson Torres, former minister of Justice and former security secretary of the Federal District, and Silvinei Vasques, former director of the Federal Highway Police (PRF), are detained in the same area, in individual cells.
With the transfer to Papudinha, Moraes authorized a series of measures related to the former president’s health and custody conditions. Among them is comprehensive medical assistance, 24 hours a day, both by professionals from the penitentiary system and by previously registered private doctors, without the need for prior communication to the Judiciary.
Immediate travel to hospitals in urgent cases was also authorized, with subsequent communication to the STF within 24 hours.
Bolsonaro will be able to carry out physiotherapy sessions on the days and times indicated by his doctors, upon registration of the professional and communication to the responsible court.
The defense was also authorized to arrange the daily delivery of special food, and must indicate, within 24 hours, the person responsible. Physiotherapy equipment, such as treadmills and bicycles, in addition to the installation of guardrails and support bars in accommodations, may be installed at the defense’s discretion, as per medical recommendation.
