Minister André Mendonça, of the STF, converted the preventive detention of Silvio Feitoza, one of the targets in the investigation into illegal discounts on pensions from the National Social Security Institute (INSS), into home detention.
Silivia Feitoza, who had been in prison since December last year, had a worsening health condition. He was taken to Hospital de Base, in Brasília, underwent surgery to unblock his coronary arteries, and was diagnosed with severe myocardial ischemia.
In the decision handed down last Friday (16), André Mendonça stated that Feitoza is “extremely weakened due to a serious illness”. Due to this, the person being investigated must remain in custody at home, using an electronic ankle bracelet and handing over a passport.
Silvio Feitoza is suspected of being a type of financial manager of a scheme that embezzled millions of reais from INSS policyholders.
