A mysterious triangle-shaped craft has been spotted over the area known as Area 51 in Nevada, US, according to a report from The Aviationist.
The information comes from Anders Ottesonowner of the YouTube channel Uncanny Expeditions. He told media he saw the unusually shaped plane during a recent trip to the Groom Lake area.
The sighting occurred on the night of January 14, 2026, according to Otteson, while he was camping in the area to observe nightly aerial activity using scanners, thermal cameras and optical sensors.
Even more interesting than the observation itself is the fact that a similarly shaped plane had already been spotted in Wichita, Kansas, in February 2014. About a month later, three triangular planes were also seen in Amarillo, Texas.
Despite years of speculation, no official explanation has been provided. Furthermore, the plane flying over Wichita was never publicly identified nor seen again.
The Groom Lake plane photo was taken with a thermal camera AGM TM50-640. Due to the distance, the image may be slightly distorted, making the aircraft appear similar to a stealth bomber B-2 Spirit.
Otteson however explained that he clearly saw a B-2 Spirit fly over the area just before the mysterious plane appeared. Comparing the thermal images of the two aircraft, the differences between the platforms are evident.
Il B-2with indicative REARM71operated in the area for approximately four hours before returning to Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. Although the nature of the operation was not disclosed, the density of radio traffic in the area that night, according to experts, indicates that the B-2 he was involved in something more serious than a routine or training flight.
Subsequently, Otteson and Joerg Arnu of the Dreamland Resort they went live to discuss the sighting. During the broadcast they suggested that the mysterious triangular aircraft captured in the thermal images was apparently not mentioned or involved in radio communications that night.
While Arnu and Otteson shared their theories, they stressed that they had no hard evidence about the activities that occurred on the night of January 14. For now, the main takeaway from this latest revelation is that the plane spotted in 2014 in Kansas appears to be active again, more than a decade later.
