US profile in Brazil warns illegal immigrants about deportation

by Marcelo Moreira

The official profile of the United States government in Portuguese published this Thursday (15), on the social network X, a message with a direct warning to illegal immigrants, stating that foreigners who enter the USA to commit crimes “will be arrested and deported by the American authorities”.

“If you come to the United States to rob Americans, President (Donald) Trump will throw you in jail and send you back to where you came from,” the post says.

The message was accompanied by an image of the American president with the phrase “send them back”. The initiative reinforces the tough tone adopted by the Trump administration regarding illegal immigration.

The publication comes in the same week that the United States Department of State announced the suspension of processing immigrant visas for citizens of 75 countries, including Brazil. As reported by the ministry, the measure was adopted because immigrants from these nations would be more likely to depend on US social assistance programs, generating costs for the American public coffers.

The suspension takes effect on January 21 and does not apply to temporary tourist or business visas.

The United States Embassy in Brazil stated that the government will continue to revoke visas and deport foreigners with criminal histories, with the aim of maintaining internal security.
