A group of at least 14 hooded thieves were caught on camera storming a Bajaj dealership in Brazil and making off with over 10 motorcycles.

The episode occurred in Itajaí, on the northern coast of the state of Santa Catarina, in southern Brazil, in the early hours of last Tuesday (13), according to the Military Police (PM).

Security camera footage shows the thieves breaking the shop’s windows before entering. A few seconds later, they start coming out on their motorbikes. The entire action lasted less than three minutes.

According to local media, the dealership manager explained that the motorcycle keys were left in the ignition to facilitate moving the vehicles within the yard. After the incident, he said that this procedure will be reviewed.

The police arrived on site around 2.40am to manage the operation. According to authorities, seven suspects have been arrested so far.

One of the suspects, an 18-year-old young man, was found on the ground near the scene with obvious bleeding. He was taken to hospital, where fractures to his tibia and fibula were found.

Three other suspects were stopped by Military Police in the nearby towns of Camboriú and Balneário Camboriú: a 25-year-old man and two teenagers aged 17 and 16.

The Municipal Guard of Balneário Camboriú also arrested two teenagers aged 16 and 15 suspected of being involved in the crime. A fifth teenager was also arrested, but the location was not disclosed.

Of the 12 stolen motorcycles, all have already been recovered, but seven individuals are still at large. Police continue to search for the other suspects.

“At first, they themselves admitted that they had no definition as to what the destination of the motorcycles would be, whether to resell them or use them,” declared the commissioner Ricardo Meloas reported by g1.

«Some of them even decided on the spot where to abandon them. It wasn’t just one place; they hid them in places that they thought were viable.”
