The Civil Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro arrested, this Tuesday (14), a man identified as one of the main financial leaders of Comando Vermelho in the state of Mato Grosso. The capture was carried out inside the Chapadão Community, in the North Zone of Rio, an area dominated by the criminal faction.
The action was conducted by the Police Station for the Repression of Organized Criminal Actions and Special Inquiries (DRACO-IE), in a joint and coordinated operation with the Civil Police of Mato Grosso, through the Management to Combat Organized Crime (GCCO/DRACO), in addition to the support of the 39th Police Station (Pavuna). The prisoner was identified as Renato Barbosa Silva, known as “Denis MT Crédito”. According to investigations, he is considered a target of high strategic relevance for acting as a leader of the Red Command in Mato Grosso territory, playing a central role in the financial management of the criminal organization.
According to the Civil Police, “Denis MT Crédito” would be responsible for coordinating the financial nucleus of the faction in Primavera do Leste (MT), managing illicit loans, known as usury, carrying out collections and organizing the transfer of resources to the criminal leadership.
The investigations also indicate the use of third-party bank accounts to move funds and participate in internal meetings of the faction, which would demonstrate his commanding position and direct connection with the group’s financial and disciplinary sectors. Prison is considered to have a major impact on combating organized crime, as it directly affects the structure responsible for financially supporting illicit activities, such as the acquisition of weapons, logistics and territorial expansion of the faction.
According to the Civil Police, investigations continue with the aim of identifying other members of the financial scheme, mapping the flows of illicit resources and adopting new judicial police measures to weaken the Comando Vermelho financing chain in Mato Grosso.
