A man was shot in the leg Wednesday night during a federal immigration enforcement operation in north Minneapolis. After the officers arrived at the person, two other people arrived from a nearby apartment and the three began attacking the officer, according to DHS. “Fearing for his life and safety after being ambushed by three individuals, the officer fired one shot in self-defense to protect his life,” the department said. The two people who left the apartment are in custody, according to reports. The city of Minneapolis stated on social media platform X that it was “aware of reports of a shooting involving federal law enforcement officers in north Minneapolis.” The case occurred in the same city where an American citizen was killed, also by an ICE agent, last week. After the incident, at least 100 people gathered near the site, according to The New York Times. A group of them allegedly shouted at Minneapolis police officers who were blocking the street, demanding the arrest of federal agents.
