The vehicle, produced in China by the VW-SAIC joint venture, appears to be the production version of the ID. Era concept revealed last year. Its main highlight, however, is the range-extending gasoline engine.

Under the hood, it features a turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline engine that serves solely as a generator to charge the battery. The four-cylinder unit belongs to the EA211 family and operates on the Miller cycle, with variable-geometry turbocharger technology derived from Porsche.
