The level of indebtedness of Brazilians until December 2025 reached 78.9% and is considered the highest for the month in the entire historical series of the Consumer Debt and Default Survey.
The result represents an increase of 2.3 percentage points compared to December 2024. In default, there was also an increase in the annual comparison, reaching 29.4% of respondents.
In the monthly comparison, there was an improvement in the indices. After reaching a historic high of 79.5% in October, the percentage of indebted families fell to 78.9% in December, the lowest rate recorded since July.
The downward movement was also observed in the volume of overdue accounts, which reached 29.4% in the last month of the year, the lowest level since April, far from the peak of 30.5%, also recorded in October. Despite the improvement in the last quarter, the annual balance reveals a scenario of greater financial pressure compared to the previous year.
