Pope Leo XIV met this Monday (12) with the leader of the Venezuelan opposition and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, María Corina Machado. The Vatican released photos of the meeting, but did not provide details.
The pontiff has demanded respect for human rights and called for dialogue for the good of the Venezuelan people. Maria Corina Machado’s conversation with the head of the Catholic Church precedes an even more important conversation: with the president of the United States.
Donald Trump announced last week that in the coming days he will meet with Corina Machado in Washington. It is not yet known exactly when.
