This Sunday (11), the 83rd edition of the Golden Globes will be held. The ceremony will begin at 9:30 pm, Brasília time. The event will be held in Beverly Hills, California.
Created in 1944, the Golden Globes are held annually and recognize the best works in world cinema and television, including films, series and performances by actors and actresses.
The award is decided by an electoral college made up of 334 journalists specializing in entertainment, coming from 85 countries. Of this total, 38 voters are from Brazil.
After a highly praised debut in 2025, comedian and actress Nikki Glaser returns to take charge of the Golden Globes for the second year in a row, maintaining the feat of being the first woman to present the ceremony alone.
The Secret Agent
For the second time in a row, a Brazilian film is present at the ceremony: The Secret Agent, starring actor Wagner Moura and directed by Brazilian director Kleber Mendonça Filho, is nominated for two categories, namely: Best Drama Film (first nomination in history) and Best Film in a Non-English Language. The actor is also competing for the Best Actor in a Drama Film statuette, being the first Brazilian to be in the running.
Last year, Walter Salles’ film, I’m Still Here, was also present at the awards. Fernanda Torres won the statuette for Best Actress in a Drama Film. The actress will not be at this year’s Golden Globes, according to her team.
New award
Announced in 2025, in this edition there will be a new category in the awards: Best Podcast. According to Golden Globe president Helen Hoehne, this is a new way of telling stories.
Nominees
In terms of cinema nominees, the biggest highlight is “Uma Batalha Pós a Outra”, which has nine nominations, while “Valor Sentimental” comes next, with eight. On television, “White Lotus” is the most remembered series, appearing in six categories, followed by “Adolescence”, which won five nominations.
