The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, arrived in New York at around 6:30 pm this Saturday (03), after being captured by United States authorities during an operation carried out in the early hours of the morning in Caracas. According to official information, he will be taken to a detention center in the city, where he will be in the custody of American authorities.
Maduro’s withdrawal from Venezuela and his transfer to the United States took place under the escort of FBI agents. To date, the US government has not announced the next steps in the legal process.
In a statement after the operation, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated that Washington will “guide Venezuela towards an adequate transition”, highlighting that the objective is to promote “peace and freedom for the Venezuelan people”.
