The President of the United States, Donald Trump, in a press conference detailing the United States attack on Venezuela in the early hours of Saturday (3), said that the Americans will command the South American country. He stated that Venezuela will be “rebuilt” with resources obtained from the sale of oil that, according to him, belongs to the United States.
“We have money coming out of the ground. This is very substantial to rebuild the country. We want security. We no longer have enemies there. We are going to rebuild. We are not going to spend money. The companies that are going. Let’s just get our oil back, which we should have gotten many years ago. A lot of money coming out of the ground. This is a very strong, very important operation.”
Trump also stated that the intention is to reorganize Venezuela’s oil industry and return this money to the population. According to him, Venezuelans will benefit from the initiative and the American government does not intend to obtain personal gains from the action.
He concluded by saying that he will ensure that the operation that took place this Saturday bears good fruit and said that he will “govern the country in a correct and fair way”.
