President Donald Trump confirmed, through his social networks, a large-scale military operation against Venezuela. In the publication, the American leader stated: “The United States of America successfully carried out an attack against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolás Maduro, who was captured, along with his wife, and removed from the country by air.”

According to Trump, the action was coordinated by American security forces. The fate of Maduro and his wife has not yet been revealed. A press conference is scheduled for 1 pm (Brasília time), where the president is expected to detail the capture.

During the early hours of this Saturday (03), strong explosions rocked Caracas. The first record occurred at 1:50 am (local time), resulting in a power outage in several regions, especially in the south zone, close to military bases. Residents reported to Reuters the noise of aircraft moments before the detonations.

Before being captured, the Venezuelan government even accused the US of military aggression against the states of Miranda, Aragua and La Guaira. In an official statement, the Maduro regime declared a state of emergency and ordered the implementation of national defense plans. The document classified the attack as a “serious and serious military aggression” and called for the mobilization of the Armed Forces in “perfect popular-military-police unity to guarantee sovereignty”. Venezuela also intends to take complaints to the UN Security Council.
