After a series of rescues in recent days on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro, another storm warning was issued. It was carried out by the Operations and Resilience Center of Rio City Hall (COR-Rio) based on the Hangover Warning for the City’s Waterfront issued by the Brazilian Navy and predicts waves that can vary between 2.5 and 3 meters.
The hangover will begin at approximately 3pm this Saturday (3), and is expected to end at 6am on Monday (5).
This will be the second in a few days. In the other, which started at 12pm on Wednesday (31st) and ended at 6am yesterday (1st), the waves reached 2.5 meters in height and had a major impact.
The Fire Department carried out 1,167 rescues between 7am on Wednesday (31st) and 7pm yesterday (1st) on beaches in Rio.
The Rio Alert System indicated that this Saturday (3) the weather will be influenced by areas of instability together with the passage of a cold front in the ocean.
“There will be predominantly cloudy skies and a forecast of isolated light rain in the morning and isolated showers from the afternoon onwards, which may come with lightning”, he informed, adding that the winds will be weak to moderate.
On Sunday (4), the forecast is for a predominance of cloudy skies with showers at any time of the day. Winds will be moderate and temperatures will decline. Monday (5) and Tuesday (6) will be days with varying cloud cover, predominantly cloudy skies and light rain forecast at any time, occasionally being moderate on Monday. Winds will be moderate.
