PASCAGOULA, Mississippi — HII Ingalls Shipbuilding’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division completed delivery of the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer Ted Stevens (DDG 128) to the US Navy on December 29, 2025.
The delivery marks the second Flight III destroyer produced by the shipyard to join the North American fleet.
According to Brian Blanchette, president of Ingalls Shipbuilding, the milestone highlights the acceleration of the Flight III program and the incorporation of expanded capabilities into the squadron. The DDG 128 represents the next generation of surface combatants, equipped with the AN/SPY-6(V)1 radar, second in the Flight III class, and the Aegis Baseline 10 combat system, designed to face threats throughout the 21st century.

Ingalls maintains four destroyers Flight III under construction and another seven in the initial stages of pre-planning and material acquisition. To increase the production rate and meet the growing demand of the US Navy, the shipyard adopted a distributed shipbuilding initiative, expanding partnerships with other shipyards and manufacturers outside the company’s traditional labor market, with a focus on meeting schedules.
With the delivery of Ted Stevens (DDG 128), Ingalls has 36 Arleigh Burke-class destroyers delivered to the US Navy, including the first Flight III, the USS Jack H. Lucas (DDG 125). Currently, the ships Jeremiah Denton (DDG 129), George M. Neal (DDG 131), Sam Nunn (DDG 133) and Thad Cochran (DDG 135) are under construction. In pre-planning and purchasing of materials, John F. Lehman (DDG 137), Telesforo Trinidad (DDG 139), Ernest E. Evans (DDG 141), Charles French (DDG 142), Richard J. Danzig (DDG 143), Intrepid (DDG 145) and Robert Kerrey (DDG 146) advance.
