Lithuania has approved the purchase of 100 infantry fighting vehicles CV90 MkIV as part of a joint procurement program with five other NATO countries.

The plan is for the main contract to be signed in early 2026, with the first deliveries scheduled for 2028 as part of the modernization of the Lithuanian Army.

In addition to procurement, the agreement also provides for the production of parts and the servicing and maintenance of vehicles to be located in Lithuania. According to the National Defense Council, the reliability of delivery schedules and the effective implementation of industrial cooperation will be decisive factors for the country’s continued involvement in the multilateral program, which also includes Finland, Sweden, Norway, Estonia and the Netherlands.

Manufactured by BAE Systems Hägglunds, the CV90 MkIV features enhanced protection, advanced command and control systems and the ability to integrate country-specific technologies. Adopting a common platform among NATO allies is expected to improve interoperability, facilitate joint training, reduce logistics costs, and strengthen operational readiness on the alliance’s eastern flank.
