The Taiwanese Army conducted Hsinchu city defense training using the M1A2T Abrams tank as part of battalion-level operational readiness training conducted by the 584th Armored Brigade.

The exercise focused on protecting critical city infrastructure in situations of high tension.

Ministry of DefenseAccording to the report, the training evaluated the unit’s ability to respond to battlefield changes and combined actual troop movement, maneuvering on city roads, and cooperation between various armored vehicles. In addition to the Abrams, CM32, CM33, and CM34 vehicles, a CM22 mortar carrier, and an HMMWV equipped with TOW anti-tank missiles participated.

The operation also tested the commander’s mobility, command and decision-making abilities and required real-time tactical adaptation. The 584th Armored Brigade, one of the country’s major heavy equipment units, plans to operate the M1A2T as a replacement for older models to strengthen the defense of key targets, especially in northern Taiwan.
