Unemployment rate in Brazil falls to 5.2% in November, says IBGE

The unemployment rate in Brazil fell to 5.2% in the quarter ending in November 2025, the lowest unemployment rate since 2012, according to Pnad Contínua, released this Tuesday (30) by IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics).

In the quarter ending in November, the Continuous National Household Sample Survey (Pnad Contínua) found 5 million 644 thousand people looking for work, the lowest number of unemployed people ever recorded by the survey. Throughout the historical series, the largest number of unemployed people occurred in the quarter ending in March 2021, the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when this indicator reached 14 million 979 thousand people.

The lowest unemployment in the historical series was accompanied by a new record in the number of employed people in the country: 103.2 million. As a result, the employment level reached the highest percentage in the Continuous PNAD historical series: 59.0%.
