LONDON, December 23, 2025 — Auction platform Collecting Cars has put up for sale the last Land Rover Defender Heritage Edition.

The Heritage Edition was created to celebrate the legacy of the HUE 166, an early production Land Rover ‘Series I’ from 1947, and represents the final chapter of the classic Defender.

Only 400 units were allocated in the UK, making it one of the most coveted models for collectors around the world. In 2023, vehicles with as-delivered mileage will fetch six-figure prices, further underscoring the appeal of this historical chapter.

Currently up for auction is the Defender 90 Heritage Edition, which is finished in the iconic Grasmere Green Metallic with an Alaska White roof and has covered just 4,597 miles since 2016.

The exterior retains all the traditional elements of a special edition car. Heritage-style grille and headlight frames, body-color matching steel wheels, silver front bumper with black caps, clear turn signals, and Indus Silver door hinges.

An aluminum emblem and HUE 166 historical graphic on the front fender complete the design inspired by the past.

Inside, the Defender combines classic ruggedness with sophisticated elements. Steering wheel in perforated leather, cover for shift knob and handbrake, aluminum air vents and door details, historic logo and HUE 166 tag on seats in Almond Resolve fabric. Practical elements such as rubber mats and padded boxes also enhance the model’s functionality.

Built on January 29, 2016, the last day of official Defender production, the vehicle is confirmed to be the last Heritage Edition to leave the factory.

The only private owner since new, the car is in completely original condition and comes with complete documentation including specialist magazine articles and press reports.

Edward Lovett, founder of Collecting Cars, commented that the special edition Defender captures the essence of the classic model in factory specification and therefore generates consistent interest worldwide.

According to him, “The last car to roll off the production line is literally the ultimate Defender Heritage and represents a unique opportunity in the market.”

Offered from the UK but available for bidding internationally, this low mileage, sole owner Defender 90 Heritage Edition represents a rare opportunity for collectors seeking one of the most iconic modern Land Rovers.

The auction will last for 7 days and will end on December 30th.Collecting CarsClosed on the platform.
